The Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITS) Association of Zimbabwe

The Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) Association of Zimbabwe was launched during the REITs Conference held in Bulawayo on the 19th and 20th July 2023. REITs also known as ‘real estate investment trust schemes’ are collective schemes registered in terms of the Collective Investment Schemes (Internal Schemes) Regulations, 1998 as read together with the Collective Investment Schemes (Internal Schemes) (Amendment) Regulations, 2019 (No. 5).

The launch of the REITS Association of Zimbabwe is momentous as there is a thrust in Zimbabwe to generate the financing for ownership of rental income for real estate projects and to generate income and capital growth for investors. The REITS Association will play an important role in the real estate sector as a number of persons are likely to be licensed by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Zimbabwe (SECZIM) whose REIT Units will be listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE).
