If you are considering purchasing a property in Zimbabwe whilst you are in the diaspora it is important that you determine whether the property you want to buy is one which is held under title or one that is held under cession. In a lot of instances, most people cannot tell the difference.
Where land is held under title, it means that the land has title deeds and is therefore transferrable i.e. a deed of grant, deed of transfer or any other deed conferring title of land. Land held under a cession is not transferred but ceded. Most land which is held under cession is owned by municipalities and cities such as City of Bulawayo, City of Gweru, City of Harare etc.
