PUBLIC PROCUREMENT
The control and regulation of public procurement and the disposal of public assets is an area of the law which is complex and should be effected in a manner which is transparent, fair, honest, cost-effective and competitive.
It is for this reason that in Zimbabwe, the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act [Chapter 22:23] (the Act) and the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets (General) Regulations, 2018 control and regulate public procurement and the disposal of public assets. The Act also established the Procurement Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (PRAZ) which monitors and supervises procuring entities and the public procurement system in Zimbabwe.
The country has not adopted the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Model Law on Public Procurement.
